What we read

Our app asks Klaviyo for eight permissions. Every one only reads. Here is what each one lets us see.

  • Your account’s name, its public ID and its website, so you can check it’s the right one.
  • Your automated emails, what starts each one, and their spam reports, bounces and unsubscribes.
  • The designs of those emails: their words, offers and codes. And the words in their pictures, read on our own servers.
  • Your campaigns, what each one offers, and their spam reports, bounces and unsubscribes.
  • Your lists, by name and size. Never who is on them.
  • Your groups of customers, by name and size. Never who is in them.
  • Your signup forms, and which list each one feeds.
  • The names of your results, like orders, and how many came in each hour. To tell what starts each automated email and to notice when your store’s orders stop reaching Klaviyo. Never who.

What we never do

None of our eight permissions lets us write anything.

  • We never change anything in your account.
  • We never read your customers’ names, emails or details.
  • We never send email from your account.
  • What we read stays in your workspace. It’s never in the Market, or shown to another workspace.

What we check

Each problem comes in three lines: what’s wrong, where, and what to do.

Your key automated emails
Welcome, abandoned cart, browse reminder, after-purchase and win-back. Each is on, switched off, a draft, or missing. We also flag a signup form whose list starts no welcome email.
Your offers, before they go out
The offers in each automated email that is on, and in each campaign waiting to go out. They get the same offer checks as every email that reaches our addresses.
Spam reports, bounces and unsubscribes
For each email that reached 100 people in the last 30 days. Gmail’s limit for spam reports is 1 in 1,000. Klaviyo’s guide says bounces over 2 in 100 need attention, and unsubscribes over 1 in 100.
Emails Gmail cuts off
Gmail hides the end of an email past about 102 KB, behind “View entire message”. We measure every email that reaches our addresses. We measure each design in your Klaviyo account too, once it’s connected. We flag those over the limit, and those close to it.
Your sending records, every day
We read your rule against fake emails (DMARC) every day. We read your list of who is allowed to send your email (SPF), and your signatures’ keys (DKIM). If one breaks or changes, we tell you. We also flag a list of who is allowed to send that inboxes stop reading after 10 lookups.
Campaigns, before they go out
Every 15 minutes we check the campaigns waiting to go out in your Klaviyo account. We check each one’s offer, and its size against Gmail’s cut-off. If one has a problem, we email you before it goes out.
Your store’s orders, reaching Klaviyo
Every 2 hours we check that your store’s orders, checkouts and product views still reach Klaviyo. We learn each store’s own pace, so a quiet night or a slow weekend raises no alarm. If they stop, we email you: your abandoned cart and after-purchase emails stop with them.
How each automated email is set up
Every night we read how each of your automated emails is set up. We tell you when a cart reminder still reaches people who just ordered. Or when an email in a series is left off, so people miss a step. We also flag two emails that go out at once, and a welcome that reaches existing customers.
Offers hidden in pictures
We flag an offer or code that only a picture gives, and pictures with no description.

Levels as Gmail and Klaviyo publish them, read 13 and 16 October 2026.

When we read, and where you see it

Once when you connect. Then every night, at a set time between midnight and 6 in the morning, your time.

Each automated email’s set-up, read every night: its filters, its waits, and which emails are on.

Its campaigns waiting to go out, every 15 minutes. If one has a problem, we email you before it goes out.

Your store’s orders, checkouts and product views, counted every 2 hours. If they stop reaching Klaviyo, we email you.

If a read fails, we try again an hour later.

  • On your brand’s page, in its Audit section.
  • On your Home, its top three problems.
  • In your monthly report, under “Inside your account”.

How to connect

Only an owner or admin of your workspace can connect.

  1. Sign in at portal.synapseretention.com.

  2. In Synapse, add your brand and follow its three steps. Step 2 is Connect Klaviyo: press it, then approve on Klaviyo’s page. It’s also in Settings, under Connections.

  3. Klaviyo opens its own page. Sign in to Klaviyo if it asks, choose your account, and approve.

  4. You come back to the portal. Check the account’s name and public ID are yours.

  5. We read the account straight away. Its audit then shows on your brand’s page.

Choose not to approve, and nothing is connected. An agency connects each client from that client’s page, or sends the client a link. How the client link works.

How to disconnect

Press Disconnect on your brand’s page, or on the Klaviyo page in Settings. Only an owner or admin can.

  • This ends our access straight away.
  • It also removes our app from your Klaviyo account.
  • And it deletes everything we read from it. A weekly backup can keep a copy for up to 4 weeks.

Removed our app in Klaviyo instead? We notice within a day. Then we end the connection, and delete what we read. An agency that removes a client’s brand ends its connection the same way.

What disconnecting deletes

Everything we read from your account goes. A weekly backup can keep a copy for up to 4 weeks. We keep only our own record of the connection.

Deleted

  • The account’s name, public ID and website.
  • Our keys to the account, and the access it gave us.
  • Every read of the account, and the audit on your brand’s page.
  • The “Inside your account” part of each monthly report. We make its PDF again without it.

Kept

  • When it was connected and read, by whom, and when and why it ended.
  • Our security log’s note of each read of the account, with its public ID, for at least a year.

Questions

Does connecting change anything in Klaviyo?

No. We can only read. Our app stays in your Klaviyo account until you disconnect.

Who can connect or disconnect?

An owner or admin of your workspace. Members and viewers can see the connection and the audit.

Do we need Klaviyo for the rest?

No. Our email checks work on any email platform. Connecting Klaviyo adds the checks inside your account.
